The Mabo Oration is a biennial event organised by the Anti-Discrimination Commission Queensland, and is the Commission's public commitment to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Queensland.

It celebrates and pays tribute to Eddie Mabo and the landmark High Court decision which legally recognised that Indigenous people had a special relationship to the land that existed prior to colonisation. The inaugural Mabo Oration was held on 3 June 2005 at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane and was given by Noel Pearson.

On Sunday, 3 July 2011 Terri Janke delivered the 2011 Mabo Oration at the Playhouse, QPAC, Southbank.

The title of the 2011 Oration was Follow the stars: Indigenous culture, knowledge and intellectual property rights. The stars are navigational tools for Torres Strait Islanders and other Indigenous peoples. Within the stars are stories, culture, law and the link from the past to the future.

The evening also included commentary on the Oration by Bryan Keon-Cohen QC and performances by didgeridoo artist David Williams and award-winning duo, Busby Marou.

In 2011 the Oration was held with support from QPAC as part of the Torres Strait Islands: A Celebration.
